Equine Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate, grounded, and experienced Equine Specialist to join Equine Presence. Our facility is dedicated to providing exceptional horse care while fostering meaningful therapeutic experiences grounded in presence, authenticity, relational integrity, and emotional safety.

This role is ideal for someone who values both the physical and emotional wellbeing of horses and believes in the transformative potential of human–equine connection.

Position Overview

The Equine Specialist ensures the health, welfare, wellbeing, enrichment of the horses. This position includes general horse care, barn management responsibilities, and maintaining a calm, trauma-informed environment for clients, staff, and animals alike.

Job Duties

  • Maintain high standards of compassionate and ethical horse care
  • Provide feeding, turnout, grooming, blanketing, and basic health monitoring
  • Monitor horse behavior, emotional regulation, and suitability for therapeutic work
  • Foster a physically and emotionally safe environment for clients and horses
  • Participate in collaborative team communication and program development
  • Assist with barn cleanliness, organization, and property maintenance

Qualifications

  • Strong horse handling experience and understanding of equine behavior
  • Calm, emotionally attuned, and collaborative presence
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and safety awareness
  • Physically capable of performing barn and horse care duties in varying weather conditions
  • First Aid Training
  • Equine First Aid Training
  • Driver’s License and reliable vehicle

Equine Facilitated Practitioners

Equine Presence invites you to join as an Equine Facilitated Contractor.

We are inviting experienced and values-aligned professionals to join our Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) program as independent contractors within our barn community.

Our program is grounded in experiential, relational, and existential principles, with a strong emphasis on presence, authenticity, emotional safety, and compassionate care for both clients and horses. We are committed to maintaining a collaborative environment where clinicians and equine professionals work together to support meaningful therapeutic experiences.

As a contractor within our EFP program, you will have the opportunity to collaborate in EFP sessions, integrating your clinical expertise with the grounded presence of horses. This role supports clients in exploring emotional awareness, relational patterns, personal growth, and meaningful change within a safe environment.
