Support in Connection
Life changes.
Sometimes suddenly. Sometimes gradually.
Health changes. Relationships change. Roles change. Abilities change.
And yet life continues.
The heaviness of doing the tasks of living while internally crumbling can be exhausting. Sometimes the idea of “processing it” one more time feels overwhelming. Sometimes we long for connection but are tired of explaining ourselves.
Pain is part of being human.
Connection can change how we carry it.
Communities of Support are therapist-facilitated Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy support groups that bring together people navigating similar challenges and experiences. Alongside horses and others who are also living the road you are travelling, participants are invited into opportunities for connection, reflection, learning, and mutual support within a safe and professionally facilitated environment.
Every person’s story is unique. Yet there can be comfort in discovering you are not the only one carrying the weight.
Healing can happen through connection.

Connection does not remove the burden.
It changes how we carry it.

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION

BURNOUT
“I just don’t have the energy anymore.”
“I care deeply, but I have nothing left to give.”
“I am tired of being strong.”
“I’m not sure how much longer I can keep going like this.”
Burnout can affect anyone. It can leave us feeling exhausted, disconnected, cynical, overwhelmed, or unlike ourselves.
Burnout is often understood as an individual problem requiring individual solutions. Yet many of the challenges that contribute to burnout emerge within relationships, systems, workplaces, and communities.
Rather than focusing solely on stress management, we will explore what becomes possible when burnout is understood not simply as an individual experience, but as something shaped by the relationships and environments in which we live and work.
What helps us move beyond surviving and toward sustainable ways of being?
At Equine Presence we stand with you as you discover your answer.

MEDICAL COMPLEXITY
I’m exhausted.
I’m sick of specialists appointments.
I’m tired of feeling dismissed.
I’m adapting … again.
And I’m so tired of this.
Living with medical complexity and/or a chronic health condition often involves navigating uncertainty, change, loss, adaptation, and the ongoing realities of daily life. These experiences can be isolating.
This Community of Support provides a space for connection, reflection, and shared learning among people living with chronic health conditions. Together, participants will explore themes such as resilience, identity, self-compassion, relationships, wellbeing, and finding meaning while living with ongoing health challenges.
The goal is not to eliminate struggle, but to create opportunities for connection, support, and discovery alongside others who are navigating the complexity of health changes.
How do we continue to live meaningful lives while carrying what cannot always be changed?

EQUESTRIAN WELLBEING
“I’m scared. I love this. And I am scared of falling again.”
“I am so sick of fighting with my horse.”
“I am trying so hard not to disappoint my coach.”
“My horse is injured… again.”
Being an equestrian asks more of us than technical skill.
Alongside learning to ride, train, compete, and care for horses, we navigate fear, disappointment, confidence, identity, grief, partnership, and the ongoing uncertainty that comes with loving horses.
Mental health is often misunderstood as either the absence of struggle or the ability to simply “get your shit together and ride.”
At Equine Presence, we believe mental health is something we actively cultivate rather than something we either have or do not have. It is more than just grit.
What helps you thrive in the saddle and in your horse-centric life?

PSYCHOLOGIST WELLBEING
PSYCHOLOGISTS
“I am so drained.”
“My heart is so tired.”
“Where do I go for help?”
“I know exactly what I would tell my client. Why can’t I seem to do it myself?”
Psychologists are often skilled at recognizing and soothing distress in others while simultaneously struggling to extend that same compassion toward themselves.
Day after day, we sit with grief, trauma, uncertainty, loss, suffering, and the complexities of being human. The work is meaningful. It can also be emotionally demanding.
We practice self-care. Yet when self-care begins to feel like an ever-growing list of individual coping strategies, it can become one more thing to manage. Many of us find ourselves withdrawing to recharge while quietly carrying the weight alone.
At Equine Presence, we create opportunities for connection, reflection, and support without requiring you to be the one holding the space. Together, we discover what becomes possible when psychologists receive the same compassion they so readily offer others.
What does it feel like when compassion includes us?
