Preparing for Your Visit
To ensure your safety and comfort during on-site sessions, please prepare for the outdoor and arena environment using these guidelines.
What to Wear
Closed-Toe Footwear (Mandatory): Sturdy, closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times. Leather boots, cowboy boots, or heavy hiking boots are highly recommended. Running shoes are acceptable, but sandals, canvas shoes (like Toms or Vans), high heels, and open-toed shoes are strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
Long Pants: Wear comfortable, durable pants like jeans, canvas work pants, or heavy athletic leggings. These protect your legs when walking through arena footing or sitting on hay bales.

What to Bring
A Reusable Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is important during active, experiential therapy.
Sun and Bug Protection: Bring a brimmed hat or baseball cap, sunglasses, and your preferred sunscreen or insect repellent for summer sessions.
Weather-Appropriate Layers: Alberta weather changes quickly. Dress in comfortable layers (sweatshirts, vests, or heavy jackets) that you do not mind getting slightly dirty or covered in horsehair.
Warm Accessories (Late Fall to Spring): If visiting during cold months, please bring a warm winter hat, a neck gaiter and insulated, durable gloves.
Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you, your psychologist, and your horse partner. We require at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling requests. Missed appointments or late cancellations will be charged the full session fee, as we cannot fill your spot or reassign our team on short notice.
SUMMER: Equine sessions take place outdoors arena. In cases of extreme weather (e.g., severe storms or temperatures below -20°C), your individual session will automatically pivot to a standard indoor office session or a virtual format. For half-day intensives or groups, we will contact you 24 hours in advance regarding rescheduling or modifications.
WINTER: Equine session take place in a heated arena. So sessions can proceed even in inclemental weather. Please note, for the safety and well-being of the horses the temperature is maintained just above freezing.
